 Mehdi Jlayer 1935-2015

Mehdi Jlayer was a painter sculptor, and a poet. He was born in Shiraz, Iran in 1935. After completing his education, Jlayer began working in Shiraz University of Medical Science where he started to show his art works.

Over his sixty years in the art world he became known for his historical paintings depicting Persepolis. Persepolis is the ancient ceremonial capital of the Persian Empire during Achaemenid dynasty, more than 2500 years ago.

Jlayer brought his works with him to the United States, but unfortunately his journey remained unfinished when he went to his eternal sleep on May 29, 2015 in New Rochelle, New York.

The poems on this website are collected from his notebook which  because of their delicate rhyme and literature are not available in other languages.
